Zermatt summer skiing. What's available and what it costs.

Summer skiing in Zermatt is quite an experience. There are, depending upon the snow and weather conditions up to 20km of skiable slopes under the Matterhorn. Although these slopes do not offer the greatest challenge to man or womankind skiers there is a certain thrill to summer skiing nonetheless. Is it cheap? No, not really but then again neither was the building of the gondolas and such. Anyhoo, a day pass will set you back 77 CHF and two days will cost you less per day at 116 for a two consecutive day period. There are, of course, further reductions for longer periods. By the by the area has a fantastic snowboard area called Gravity Park. This has boarding for all skills and methinks it is included in the pass prices.

Naturally one can get up the mountain and see the glacier and dine at the restaurant under the Matterhorn for a bit less. No matter what, Zermatt in summer has a lot to offer, not just skiers. Watch this space.
