The Zermatt Matterhorn Museum
Previous and frequent visitors to Zermatt will no doubt remember the old location of the Zermatt Matterhorn Museum . Off the main street and near the English church; it was a destination that attracted little occasional traffic. Now with the new location right next to the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof and across from the Monte Rosa hotel, the new location and indeed the new museum attract passing walk-in traffic. Judging from comments and expressions the new location is a roaring success.

The displays are the big attraction though and the Zermatt Museum takes visitors through many of the events that made Zermatt and the Matterhorn , famous. Here visitors can relive the first desperate, successful and yet tragic ascent of the Matterhorn. Many highlights of Zermatt ’s evelvment of what is has become today are recorded in the museum. Stories are told with historical artifacts, biographies, photos and videos. Don’t worry about understanding the whole thing, there is a multilingual audio program that will guide you through the whole evolvement process.
